Job description

Position Overview

The Manufacturing Automation Engineer supports the performance, reliability, and continuous improvement of automated equipment used in production. This role works closely with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to troubleshoot equipment issues, optimize automation systems, and support new equipment implementations.

This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys hands-on troubleshooting, equipment optimization, and learning industrial automation systems within a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support daily operation of automated manufacturing equipment to ensure optimal performance and uptime
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and automation-related issues on production equipment
  • Review equipment blueprints, electrical schematics, and assembly drawings to verify system performance and identify improvement opportunities
  • Assist with equipment upgrades, automation improvements, and new equipment implementation projects
  • Work with engineering and maintenance teams to diagnose root causes and implement corrective actions
  • Help maintain spare parts inventory to minimize production downtime
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, efficiency, and process optimization
  • Assist with equipment setup, validation, and production readiness activities
  • Provide technical documentation and support engineering change processes as needed
  • Design and build custom machinery to improve operational processes
Preferred Knowledge & Skills
  • Basic understanding of industrial automation systems including sensors, actuators, motion control, and automated equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings
  • Familiarity with PLC-controlled equipment and industrial control systems
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
  • Hands‑on mechanical and electrical aptitude
  • Ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Must be authorized to access export‑controlled information and meet the definition of a U.S. Person in accordance with U.S. export control laws and regulations. “U.S. Persons” include U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents (green card holders), refugees, and asylees.
Basic Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related technical field
  • 1–5 years of experience in manufacturing, automation, maintenance engineering, or related technical role
  • Internship or hands‑on experience with industrial equipment, robotics, or automation systems is highly desirable
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work in a cleanroom manufacturing environment
  • Ability to perform hands‑on technical tasks associated with equipment troubleshooting and maintenance
