Job summary

The Davis Companies is seeking an Automation and Controls Technician to provide hands‑on support for automated manufacturing equipment and control systems. You will diagnose and repair PLCs, motor drives, and related systems, perform preventive maintenance, and assist with installations to ensure reliable production operations.

Ideal candidates will have a strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and commitment to safety, quality, and continuous learning.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or a certificate in an electrical-related field.
  • Proficiency with PCs and Rockwell Automation systems.
  • Experience with PLC programming, VFDs, servo systems, industrial sensors, and Relay Ladder Logic.
  • Experience with PanelView, FactoryTalk, or other HMI programming platforms.
  • Experience performing and documenting preventive and non-routine maintenance activities.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work safely and effectively in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working within ISO 9001, ISO 13485, or CFR 820 regulated environments.
  • Journeyman or Master Electrician License.
  • Strong computer skills, including AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair PLCs and other automated control systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve equipment issues, overhaul production machinery, and assist with building and testing experimental equipment.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting and support for manufacturing equipment to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot motor drives, controllers, and related electrical systems.
  • Support internal engineering, maintenance, and process improvement projects.
  • Perform preventive maintenance activities on manufacturing equipment and automation systems.
  • Assist with the installation, startup, integration, and commissioning of new equipment and control systems.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair documentation.
  • Adhere to all safety, quality, and operational procedures while performing assigned duties.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
