Job summary

NFM Consulting LLC is seeking a seasoned Automation Technician to own field automation work across West Texas oil/gas sites, including well sites, SWDs, compressor stations, and tank batteries. You will program, troubleshoot, and maintain systems, reading ladder logic and interfacing with IDEC, ABB, Allen Bradley, and SCADA/HMI platforms.

You must manage multiple sites with strong safety discipline, self‑direction, and hitch‑schedule availability in West Texas.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in automation/instrumentation; 3+ years in oil and gas
• Experience in instrumentation, electronics technology, or equivalent field experience
• Strong time management and the ability to self‑prioritize across multiple sites
• Solid safety record — adherence to field safety protocols is non‑negotiable
• Hitch‑schedule availability in West Texas

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, install, and program automation systems at field locations including well sites, SWDs, compressor stations, and tank batteries
• Perform PLC programming and troubleshooting across IDEC, Fisher ROC, ABB, Allen Bradley, Redline HMI, OEMTech, and pressure transmitters
• Read and write ladder logic with primary proficiency in IDEC PLCs
• Perform calibration, maintenance, and repairs on instrumentation, communication, and electrical equipment
• Execute planned maintenance checks and submit all required reports in a timely manner
• Coordinate with operations, SCADA/IT, and engineering teams to ensure system integration and performance

THE ROLE

NFM Consulting is looking for a seasoned Automation Technician who takes full ownership of their work—someone who walks onto a site, reads the situation, and solves the problem. You will be embedded in West Texas field operations supporting well sites, SWDs, compressor stations, and tank batteries across the Permian Basin. This is a hitch‑schedule position requiring strong field judgment, time management, and the ability to work independently across multiple locations.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Maintain, troubleshoot, install, and program automation systems at field locations including well sites, SWDs, compressor stations, and tank batteries
• Perform PLC programming and troubleshooting across IDEC, Fisher ROC, ABB, Allen Bradley, Redline HMI, OEMTech, and pressure transmitters
