Role Description
The Automation Technician is a full-time, on-site role located in Grand Prairie, TX. This role is responsible for installing, operating, and maintaining automated packaging equipment and related systems to support daily production. Day-to-day tasks include diagnosing and resolving mechanical, electrical, and automation issues, performing routine and preventive maintenance, and optimizing machine performance to reduce downtime. The Automation Technician collaborates with production and quality teams to ensure equipment meets food safety standards, supports changeovers for different product runs, and assists with upgrades or integration of new robotics and automation technologies. The role also involves documenting maintenance activities, following safety protocols, and contributing ideas for process improvements.
Qualifications
- Strong automation and robotics skills, including experience working with automated packaging equipment and control systems.
- Solid understanding of electricity and electrical components, with the ability to read schematics and work safely with industrial power systems.
- Proficient in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and control issues to quickly identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
- Experience performing preventive maintenance on industrial machinery to maximize uptime and extend equipment life.
- Experience in food manufacturing or packaging environments and familiarity with food safety and quality standards (e.g., SQF, GFSI, FSMA) is beneficial.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools, PLC interfaces, and basic hand and power tools; comfort with documenting work in maintenance systems.
- Strong attention to detail, safety-focused mindset, and ability to work collaboratively with production and quality teams.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certificate or coursework in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, or a related field is preferred.
