Position Summary

The Automation Tech II works with minimal supervision to resolve electro-mechanical issues and equipment errors on automated material handling systems, perform repairs, preventive maintenance, on-site setup, programming, and customer training.

Responsibilities

• Use advanced troubleshooting skills to diagnose and repair mechanical problems.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using technical drawings.
• Minimize downtime and unsafe conditions through preventive and predictive maintenance.
• Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex equipment issues.
• Mentor and train Automation Technician I colleagues.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs.
• Update technical documentation and standard operating procedures.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on design changes and upgrades.
• Document maintenance activities and repairs.
• Follow all OSHA and internal safety standards.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience in the material handling industry or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience with CMMS platforms is a plus.
• Familiarity with material handling equipment and PLCs.
• Working knowledge of handheld and power tools.
• Basic knowledge of PLCs and motor control.
• Advanced troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and controls issues.
• Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics.
• Self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented.
• Knowledge of safe industrial work practices.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Customer service orientation.
• Ability to work effectively in a team.
• Intermediate computer skills, including MS Office.
• Ability to follow maintenance manuals and procedures.
• Ability to guide and teach Automation Tech I.
• Support SOP creation and technical documentation.
• Support installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of material handling equipment is a plus.
