Job summary

Magna International Inc. is seeking an experienced automation/robotics professional to lead programming for robot systems, interfaces with safety circuits, and provide engineering support to production teams.

The role requires strong project management, CAD skills, and a proactive approach to deploying new automation technologies. You will work on capital asset installations, coordinate training, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• Must have 4 years minimum experience in programming Fanuc, Sepro, Motoman and/or other robot systems.
• Must be able to develop path programming from scratch and interface with safety systems.
• Two years minimum experience in programming PLCs.
• Experience reading mechanical, system and layout drawings.

Responsibilities

• Direct and follow health and safety policies and procedures.
• Exemplify the Charter principle for a safe and healthful workplace.
• Respond to health and safety concerns or suggestions.
• Report accidents and complete required forms within 24 hours.
• Ensure employees are trained to perform their jobs safely.
• Manage Magna Employee’s Charter compliance with Decostar staff.
• Provide automation/robotic technical support to production staff.
• Assist in new program launches and capital asset installation.
• Coordinate training on automation and robotic systems.
• Provide engineering support to the Operations Manager.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities to meet CI goals.
• Coordinate projects and modifications ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Lead project timelines and vendor bid/specification processes.
• Provide progress reports on project timelines and budgets.
• Identify new technologies for potential implementation.
