Role Summary:

Reporting to the Sales Manager, the Automation Specialist - SICK is a key member of the Sales team. The primary responsibility is to be a technical sales resource for the SICK Inc. product offering. This includes territory business development, pre-sales, and post-sales support. The role also involves supporting the training and development of our sales team in SICK products.


What You Will Do:

The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Engaging with customers on SICK Inc. applications and projects
  • Supporting customers with post-sale technical questions and issues
  • Collaborating with Account Managers to develop target opportunities and assist in closing sales
  • Working with the Sales Team in quoting, processing orders, and servicing customers
  • Understanding customer needs and recommending appropriate products and services
  • Explaining complex technical information clearly
  • Participating in product training and development of team members
  • Staying current on product offerings and utilizing knowledge in sales activities
  • Serving as a product line champion for SICK products
  • Maintaining a customer database
  • Upselling products and services
  • Closing sales and achieving targets
  • Creating and executing a business plan that includes activities for new business, development, and target accounts
  • Performing other duties and projects as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 1 year sales experience
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Knowledge of Automation Portfolio
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, able to multitask
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and provide excellent customer service
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Physical ability to see, talk, hear, and sit for extended periods
  • Normal office and fabrication environment exposure
  • Travel up to 60%, primarily local, occasionally overnight
  • Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3 years automation or electrical distribution sales experience
  • Hands-on electrical/mechanical knowledge
  • Experience as a manufacturer's representative
  • Experience with SICK Inc. products
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, Networks, and related technologies
