Role Summary: Reporting to the Sales Manager, the Automation Specialist - SICK is a key member of the Sales team. The role involves being a technical sales resource for SICK Inc. products, including territory business development, pre-sales, and post-sales support. The role also includes training and developing our sales team on SICK products.

Responsibilities include:

  • Engage with customers on SICK Inc. applications and projects
  • Support customers with post-sale technical questions and issues
  • Collaborate with Account Managers to develop business opportunities and assist in closing sales
  • Assist in quoting, processing orders, and servicing customers
  • Understand customer needs and recommend suitable products/services
  • Explain technical information clearly to customers
  • Train and develop team members on product knowledge
  • Stay current with product offerings and utilize knowledge in sales
  • Champion SICK products within the product line
  • Maintain customer database
  • Upsell products/services
  • Achieve sales targets and close sales
  • Develop and execute a business plan including commercial and competency plans, and target accounts
  • Perform other duties/projects as assigned

Minimum qualifications:

  • 1 year sales experience
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Knowledge of Automation Portfolio
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and provide excellent customer service
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Physical ability to see, talk, hear, sit for 8 hours
  • Travel up to 60%, primarily local, occasional overnight
  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred qualifications:

  • 3+ years in automation or electrical distribution sales, hands-on electrical/mechanical experience, previous manufacturing rep experience, or with SICK products
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, Networks, Industrial Control, Sensing, Safety, Motion Control, VSDs, Motor Controls, and Mechanical Products
