Job summary

Motiva Controls in the United States is seeking a skilled Automation Specialist to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and commission automation and control systems across diverse industrial facilities. You will help ensure the safety, reliability, and performance of process control infrastructure for our clients.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience in industrial automation or control systems.
  • Proficiency with PLCs, HMIs, and instrumentation.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, loops, and control schematics.
  • Certifications from vendors are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Install, commission, calibrate, and troubleshoot automation systems (PLCs, HMI, instrumentation).
  • Perform routine maintenance and diagnostics on control systems.
  • Support engineering and clients in system modifications and upgrades.
  • Create and maintain system documentation (loop diagrams, I/O lists, control schematics).
  • Ensure safety standards and respond to faults and emergencies.
  • Provide technical support to operations and maintenance teams.

Job description

At Motiva Controls, we believe in delivering reliable, innovative, and efficient automation solutions to support our clients’ industrial operations. We are currently looking for a skilled and motivated Automation Specialist to become a valuable part of our growing team.

In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and commissioning automation and control systems across a variety of industrial facilities. As a key player in our operations, you’ll help ensure the safety, reliability, and optimal performance of critical process control infrastructure for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform installation, commissioning, and calibration of automation systems including PLCs, HMI, and instrumentation.
  • Conduct routine maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting on instrumentation and control systems.
  • Support the engineering team and clients in system modifications, upgrades, and technical improvements.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining system documentation, including loop drawings, loop sheets, I/O lists, and control logic diagrams.
  • Ensure all workers comply with company and industry safety standards and operational procedures.
  • Respond to system faults and emergencies during operations as required.
  • Provide technical support for operations and maintenance teams.

Requirements:

Education & Certifications:

  • Associate’s Degree required.
  • Relevant vendor certifications (Siemens, Schneider, Rockwell, etc.) are an advantage.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience in industrial automation or control systems.
  • Experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, manufacturing, or power generation industries preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in PLC knowledge and troubleshooting (ROC, Rockwell, ABB, etc.)
  • Familiarity with HMI systems.
  • Strong understanding of instrumentation, control loops, and field devices.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and control schematics.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, etc.)

Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in remote/offshore environments (if applicable).
  • Commitment to safety and quality standards.
