Job summary

Genentech seeks a versatile Automation Specialist in the CiS Laboratory to design, develop, and automate CIVM workflows, including organoids and 3D models, supporting Development Sciences, Research, and Translational Medicine. You will translate manual culture and assays into automated workflows, qualify systems, maintain platforms, and drive data integration with LIMS.

Strong Python/C# skills and cross-functional collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• PhD with 0-3 years or Masters with 4-6 years in biomedical engineering or related field.
• Experience automating cell culture and CIVMs in biotech or pharma.
• Experience with CIVM automation is a plus.
• Experience with Python and/or C# and data automation.
• Experience integrating instrument data with LIMS systems.
• Translating lab protocols into automation-ready workflows.
• Hands-on experience with cell culture assays (viability, flow cytometry, gene expression, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Automate CIVM culture and assay workflows on integrated liquid handling platforms.
• Translate manual protocols into repeatable automated processes.
• Qualify and execute automation on CIVMs and perform routine maintenance.
• Collaborate with scientists, vendors, and software teams to implement automation best practices.
• Document processes with SOPs and share capabilities with the team.
