Job summary

Zohorecruit in South San Francisco, CA is seeking a Laboratory Automation Specialist to support automation of complex invitro models (CIVMs) including organoids and iPSC systems.

You will translate manual protocols into scalable automated workflows, operate Hamilton/Biomek/OpenTrons/ BioTek platforms, and develop Python/C# based automation processes. This role requires strong collaboration with scientists, engineers and vendors and offers a long-term contract with benefits.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s with corresponding years in Biomedical/Chemical/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Hands-on experience automating cell culture and cellular assays in pharma/biotech/CRO or academia.
• Experience with liquid handling automation and laboratory instrumentation.
• Programming experience in Python and/or C#.
• Experience translating manual cell culture/assay processes into automated workflows.

Responsibilities

• Develop, program, test, qualify and execute automated cell culture and cellular assay workflows.
• Translate manual scientist-developed lab protocols into scalable, repeatable automated workflows.
• Operate, troubleshoot and maintain automated liquid handling platforms and integrated lab instruments.
• Work with platforms such as Hamilton, Biomek, Opentrons, BioTek and automated incubators, centrifuges, imagers and analyzers.
• Use Python and/or C# for automation, data processing and workflow development.
• Perform equipment QC, dry runs, maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure system readiness.
• Collaborate with scientists, data engineers, software developers and external vendors.
• Develop SOPs, technical documentation and troubleshooting guides; train team members on automation and Python practices.

• Programmingexperience in Python and/or C#.
