Job summary

Automation & Robotics Specialist at a high-volume automotive manufacturing plant in Warren, Michigan shaping automation from first power-up to stable production. You will take partially developed systems and bring them to full readiness, optimize performance, and hand off to production sustainment teams, partnering with engineering, maintenance, and suppliers.

Duties include launching, commissioning, programming PLCs/HMIs, robots, vision systems, safety and torque tools, and driving improvements

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Strong ladder-logic programming and controls fundamentals.
Hands-on industrial robotics programming, integration, optimization, or troubleshooting experience.
Balanced capability across PLC/HMI controls and robotics.

Responsibilities

Launch, integrate, commission, and stabilize automated manufacturing equipment.
Program, modify, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, industrial robots, vision systems, conveyance, motion, safety systems, and torque tools.
Improve cycle time, throughput, quality, uptime, robot paths, sequencing, alarms, interlocks, and recovery routines.
Apply structured root-cause analysis to eliminate repeat failures and deliver sustainable corrective actions.
Partner with engineering, maintenance, production, suppliers, and integrators, then train sustainment teams and complete a reliable handoff.
