Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an Automation Quality Engineer – Device & OS Testing to ensure quality, reliability, and performance of software and connected devices through automated testing and end-to-end validation.

The role involves hands-on lab work with physical devices, developing automated test suites, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. Interviews may include live coding assessments. 5 days onsite in Cupertino, CA.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of Software Quality Engineering, Test Automation, Automation Quality Engineering, or related disciplines.
• Strong programming expertise in Swift, Objective-C, Python, or Java with working knowledge of Xcode.
• Experience performing black-box testing and end-to-end functional validation.
• Hands-on experience configuring, provisioning, and managing physical devices in a lab environment.
• Strong debugging, log analysis, root cause investigation, and defect isolation skills.
• Experience designing and maintaining automated test frameworks and test suites.

Responsibilities

• Perform integration, black-box, and end-to-end testing across software and device ecosystems.
• Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated test suites for functional and system validation.
• Analyze test failures, review logs, isolate root causes, and drive issue resolution.
• Configure, provision, and maintain devices and test environments supporting automation execution.
• Partner with engineering and quality teams to improve product quality, test coverage, and release readiness.
