Job summary

Hunter Douglas, Inc. in Boise, ID is seeking an Automation Engineer to design, develop, and implement automated systems across North America plants. You will work with engineering, production and IT to identify opportunities, specify requirements, and ensure safe, quality-integrated solutions.

The role requires hands-on PLC/robotics programming, project management, and collaboration with external vendors to drive improvements in cycle time and OEE. Travel and relocation support are available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Electronics, Automation Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of experience as a Controls/Automation Engineer in manufacturing.
• Experience with Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP, and IO-Link.
• Hands-on knowledge of robotics, vision systems, VFDs and servo motion control.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with defined timelines and budgets.

Responsibilities

• Lead automation and controls scope for new equipment and lines.
• Design, program, and deploy PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and vision systems.
• Define scope, specs, budgets, timelines, and resource plans.
• Manage multiple automation projects to meet cost and schedule targets.
• Coordinate RFQs, vendor reviews, FATs, SATs, installation, and startup.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, IT, Quality, and Maintenance.
