Automation & Operations Technology Engineer

About The Job

The Automation & Operations Technology Engineer will serve as the single point of contact for Operational Technology Cybersecurity strategy, improvement, and maintenance. They will act as a liaison between plant operations and regional and global IT and Cybersecurity teams. The role covers Danone plants in Dallas, Texas, and Fort Worth, Texas.

The primary responsibility involves utilizing cybersecurity tools (Claroty, Hackuity, Qualys, Firewalls, Beyond Trust, Factory Talk Security) for threat mitigation, vulnerability management, alert monitoring, preventing unauthorized access, remote access management, and maximizing the availability of industrial automation systems (Hardware, Network, Scada Software, Database, and new component integration).

The Engineer will collaborate with operations and engineering teams on initiatives, ensure cybersecurity policies are followed, support automation projects, participate in patching during shutdowns, and assist in recovery during cybersecurity incidents.

Physical requirements include the ability to lift at least 30 lbs, work long hours, travel domestically and internationally (~30-40%), and be flexible with work hours, including weekends and holidays.

Job Responsibilities
  • Enforce Danone Global OT cybersecurity policies and standards
  • Perform daily health checks on OT systems
  • Improve Cybersecurity KPIs (Vulnerability, Alerts, Backup management, PLC Security)
  • Report monthly on Cybersecurity KPIs to leadership
  • Manage high-priority cybersecurity incidents and vendor access
  • Handle legacy system migrations and asset management
  • Maintain and update architecture diagrams and network monitoring tools
  • Manage hardware lifecycle and coordinate patches and updates
  • Develop plans for networking and applications roadmap
  • Participate in system performance and reliability meetings with regional IT teams
  • This role is based in West Jordan, UT, with travel to Portland, OR, and Eugene, OR (~30-40%).
About You
  • Experience in OT cybersecurity management, industrial networking, PLC programming (Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider), and electrical systems
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microsoft Visio, SCADA/HMI systems (Ignition, Wonderware, Factory Talk View), and SQL
  • Self-motivated, organized, with strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of IT/OT network segregation (Purdue model), cybersecurity certifications (ISA/IES 62443) a plus
  • Fluent in English
Experience & Educational Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years in automation and operations technology or 10 years in manufacturing IT and automation, with relevant degree or equivalent experience
