Job summary

The Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor, Maine seeks an Engineering Technician – Automation & Mechanical Systems to support JMCRS and Research Services. You will assist with assembly, testing, and modification of mechanical and automation systems, reading drawings and BOMs, and maintaining equipment documentation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 years in a technical, mechanical, or industrial support role.
• Ability to read and follow engineering drawings.
• Experience with hand and power tools.
• Familiarity with automation components and safety principles.
• Lean or Six Sigma familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Assist with assembly, installation, testing, and modification of mechanical/automation systems.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
• Support mechanical fabrication, prototype assembly, and field installation.
• Read from drawings, schematics, and bills of material.
• Maintain records of work, test results, and system modifications.
• Collaborate with engineers on prototypes and system integration.
• Follow safety protocols and contribute to equipment documentation.
