The Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor, Maine is seeking a Mechanical Engineer – Research & Development to design and implement mechanical systems that advance automation and ergonomics. You will collaborate with the Controls/Automation Engineer to deliver scalable solutions across JMCRS operations and Research Services, supporting installation, testing, and validation.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering (or related) and 3 years in design for automation, with CAD

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology with a focus on industrial systems, automation, or robotics.
• 3 years of experience in mechanical design or industrial engineering.
• Experience in CAD software (SolidWorks, SolidEdge, AutoCAD) and mechanical system modeling.
• Familiarity with safety and ergonomic standards in mechanical system design.

Aufgaben

• Design and develop mechanical systems and components to support automation and ergonomic improvements.
• Collaborate with Controls/Automation Engineer to implement integrated solutions across JMCRS operations.
• Support installation, testing, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems.
• Ensure mechanical designs meet safety, ergonomic, and regulatory standards.
• Document mechanical specifications, drawings, and validation protocols.
• Lead mechanical aspects of cross-functional engineering projects.
• Apply Lean or Six Sigma methodologies to improve mechanical system performance.
