Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Mechanical Engineer (Automation) to design, develop, and support custom machinery and automation systems from concept through final build. This hands-on role involves robotics, pneumatics, motion systems, sensors, actuators, and mechanical assemblies on real shop floor projects.

You will collaborate with electrical and controls engineers, technicians, vendors, and operations to take projects from concept to fabrication, assembly, testing, and startup, ensuring reliable

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 2 to 5+ years in machine design and industrial automation.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD, preferably SolidWorks.
• Experience designing mechanical assemblies and components.
• Understanding pneumatic systems, drive systems, actuators, sensors, and motion components.

Responsibilities

• Design custom automated machinery, mechanical systems, assemblies, components, tooling, and safety guarding.
• Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
• Develop mechanical solutions incorporating pneumatics, actuators, sensors, motion systems, and mechanical drive components.
• Work closely with electrical and controls engineers to integrate mechanical and automation systems.
• Perform engineering calculations including stress, load, tolerance, and component sizing analysis.
• Support prototype builds, machine assembly, testing, debugging, and system validation.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform root-cause analysis to improve equipment reliability and performance.
• Participate in machine startup and commissioning as required.
• Collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, operations, and safety throughout the full project lifecycle.
• Support continuous improvement of existing equipment and machine designs.
