Job summary

American Highway in Becker, MN is seeking a Maintenance Technician to maintain and improve automated systems and machinery, troubleshoot issues, perform preventive maintenance, and support production operations. You will work with engineering and operations teams to upgrade equipment, document procedures, read electrical schematics, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Some technical or college level coursework preferred.
• Mechanical and repair experience required.
• Maintenance experience required.
• Electrical experience preferred.
• Stick welding experience required.
• Fabrication experience required.
• Ability to read a tape measure.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on machinery and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and control system issues to minimize downtime.
• Respond to emergency breakdowns and perform root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to design and implement automation solutions to improve operational efficiency.
• Modify, update, and optimize PLC programs and HMI configurations.
• Assist in upgrading and retrofitting existing equipment and systems with automation technology.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and upgrades.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and update technical documentation, including preventive maintenance procedures and troubleshooting guides.
• Provide technical support and training to operations staff on automated equipment and systems.
• Assist in developing SOPs and best practices for equipment usage and maintenance.
• Keep safety awareness high and ensure that safety is American Highway’s number one priority.
