Job Details

The Automation Technician I is an hourly position supporting the operation of an automated material handling system. This role focuses on ensuring the efficient operation of the ASRS and related automated components, diagnosing and resolving errors (physical and IT), and using various computer applications to maintain accurate communication and inventory positioning within WMS, WCS, and PLC systems. Responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring WCS interface for faults and following SOPs to clear machine faults, including physical product movement up to 100 lbs.
  • Troubleshooting errors using WMS and WCS systems.
  • Monitoring inventory co-mingling and consolidating pallets as needed.
  • Monitoring system missions and advising supervisors of potential conflicts.
  • Escalating errors and outages, acting as liaison with automation providers and specialists.
  • Ensuring data integrity in WMS and WCS systems.
  • Performing preventative maintenance on automation equipment.
  • Participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Supporting automated warehouse processes and performing additional maintenance technician tasks as assigned, including paperwork, battery maintenance, troubleshooting, electrical work, welding, and general equipment maintenance.

Pay: Up to $28/hour, depending on experience.

What We Are Looking For
Education
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Advanced technical training or certification preferred
Experience
  • Knowledge of computer systems, preferably WMS and WCS
  • Familiarity with PLCs, conveyor maintenance, ASRS cranes, and electrical systems
  • Basic computer skills, flexibility to work all shifts including weekends, and understanding of distribution center processes
  • Strong communication, multitasking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
Other Abilities
  • Bend and lift up to 50 lbs. regularly; lift up to 70 lbs. with assistance
  • Work in temperature ranges from +50°F to -30°F
  • Stand, walk, and operate warehouse equipment as needed
  • Operate scanners, tablets, radios, phones, and computers
  • Availability for overtime and ability to operate a vehicle if required
  • Strong arithmetic and reading skills, ability to follow instructions, work independently, and manage stress in a fast-paced environment
