Job summary

eBuzz Solutions in Philadelphia is seeking a Senior Building Automations Service (BAS) Technician to join our onsite team. You will lead complex BAS events, diagnose interactions across controls, HVAC, networks, and servers, and coordinate changes with safety and rollback plans.

The role calls for 6+ years in servicing, programming, commissioning, or troubleshooting commercial HVAC controls, plus independent ownership of BAS service calls and strong BACnet/Ethernet networking knowledge.

Qualifications

• Six or more years of experience servicing, programming, commissioning, or troubleshooting commercial HVAC controls and building automation systems.
• At least three years independently owning BAS service calls, including control-program changes and customer communications.

• Ability to lead technical incidents, coach technicians, and provide clear written findings.

My client is a leading global independent Energy-as-a-Service provider, offering free energy savings assessments, guaranteed savings, fixed price proposals, funding solutions, and we are experts in building automation. My client has successfully implemented holistic, product agnostic projects at more than 3,500 sites across the United States. They are looking for a Senior Building Automations Service (BAS) Technician full-time employee to work onsite 100% at their Philadelphia office.

Role Overview:

My client designs, delivers, and supports energy and smart-building solutions that improve comfort, reliability, efficiency, and operating cost. Our Service team works alongside a 24/7 National Operations Center (NOC) to support commercial, healthcare, education, senior living, and industrial customers across a growing national portfolio. This senior individual-contributor role is trusted with my client's most complex BAS events, customer escalations, technical review, and field coaching. You will lead diagnosis across controls, HVAC equipment, networks, servers, and integrations; protect live systems through disciplined change control; and raise Service and NOC capability. Senior status reflects technical authority and judgment, not automatic people-management authority.

Responsibilities:

• Lead complex, high-impact, recurring, or multi-system BAS events remotely and onsite; establish the diagnostic strategy, coordinate contributors, and maintain customer ownership through resolution
• Diagnose advanced interactions among BAS controllers, networks, servers, databases, workstations, HVAC equipment, electrical interfaces, and third-party systems
• Review sequences, program logic, graphics, databases, alarms, trends, network architecture, and live operating data; implement authorized changes with backups, testing, rollback planning, and post-change verification
• Serve as a technical escalation point for the NOC and field team, including after-hours and mission-sensitive conditions.
• Coach Level I and II technicians through paired troubleshooting, field demonstrations, ticket review, and knowledge transfer without replacing their ownership.
• Act as the senior technical contact during customer escalations; translate complex findings into clear risk, operational impact, options, and next steps.
• Protect credentials, data, backups, tools, test equipment, parts, and the assigned vehicle; elevate cyber risk, stop unsafe work, and support rotating on-call escalation coverage.

Qualifications - Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Six or more years of progressive hands-on experience servicing, programming, commissioning, or troubleshooting commercial HVAC controls and building automation systems, or equivalent demonstrated mastery through manufacturer training and complex field experience.
• At least three years independently owning BAS service calls, including control-program changes, network troubleshooting, customer communication, and verified closeout.
• Advanced knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, DDC control theory, electrical fundamentals, field devices, sequences of operation, and controls-to-equipment interaction.
• Advanced ability to use trends, alarms, live data, program logic, field measurements, drawings, and operational history to isolate root cause across multiple systems.
• Proficiency on at least one major commercial BAS platform and the ability to diagnose unfamiliar platforms methodically.
• Strong practical knowledge of BACnet/IP, BACnet MS/TP, Ethernet and IP networking, third-party integration, server connectivity, and customer IT/cybersecurity boundaries.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical incidents, communicate with demanding customers, coach technicians, and produce clear written findings and scopes.
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet company vehicle-insurability requirements.
• Ability to participate in rotating on-call escalation coverage and work occasional evenings, weekends, overtime, or overnight travel when customer conditions require it.
• Ability to satisfy customer-site screening, badging, safety, and access requirements.

Requirements Preferred:

• Advanced Automated Logic WebCTRL capability, including controller programming, EIKON logic, graphics, alarming, trending, databases, commissioning tools, and ARCNET or BACnet field-bus troubleshooting.
• Niagara N4 certification or advanced experience with Carrier, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Trane, Delta Controls, or other commercial BAS platforms.
• Experience leading complex BACnet, Modbus, network, server, database, cloud-hosting, or third-party integration troubleshooting.
• Technical certificate, associate degree, or bachelor's degree in HVAC, controls, electronics, electrical engineering technology, networking, or a related discipline.
• Relevant manufacturer certifications, OSHA 30, NFPA 70E training, or recognized controls, networking, and safety credentials.
• Experience supporting healthcare, laboratories, education, senior living, industrial, data-center, or other occupied and mission-sensitive environments.
• Experience scoping service repairs and retrofits, reviewing technical work, delivering customer training, or leading system-to-service turnover.
