Job summary

gpac is seeking a field service/installation engineer in Novi, MI. You will lead onsite meetings, coordinate between engineers, project managers, installers, contractors, customers, and internal teams to ensure safety, schedule adherence, and project milestones.

The role requires a background in electrical or mechanical engineering with 2–5 years in control systems or automotive automation installation, plus 2+ years in field service. Strong troubleshooting and reading schematics are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 2-5 years in control systems or mechanical engineering preferred.
• 2-5 years in automotive automation installation experience (interior and exterior components).
• 2+ years in automotive/automation field service.
• Experience with installation and powertrain assembly a plus.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical and decision-making abilities.
• Customer-focused communication with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Lead onsite meetings covering targets, safety, priorities, and open issues.
• Coordinate engineers, project managers, installers, contractors, customers, and internal teams.
• Monitor milestones and escalate schedule concerns.
• Maintain safety logs, reports, issue lists, and meeting notes.
• Enforce safety procedures and PPE use.
• Share customer, contractor, delay, and scope concerns with project leadership.
• Assist with tooling buy-off, runoffs, schedules, and site organization.
• Build productive partnerships with customers, contractors, and installation crews.
• Represent the company with strong communication and customer focus.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

2-5 years in control systems or mechanical engineering

2-5 years automotive automation installation experience

2+ years field service in automotive/automation

Auto/industrial installation experience

Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills

Excellent communication and professional demeanor

Ability to read schematics and mechanical drawings

Microsoft 365 proficiency
