Job summary

MPBAS seeks an Automation Foreman to inspect, test, and repair automation devices and systems across multiple projects. You will diagnose malfunctions, perform preventative maintenance, and manage crews while coaching technicians on site.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s in engineering and 8+ years of automation experience with a strong background in HVAC controls and customer interactions at supervisory levels.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical or Mechanical) or equivalent field experience.
• 8+ years of direct automation experience with control systems and programming.
• Working knowledge of at least three HVAC control systems (Delta, Distech, JCI or Andover).
• Ability to interface with customers at a supervisory and management level.
• Engineering skills include electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and programming.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, adjust and repair automation devices and systems.
• Diagnose causes of malfunction or failure and perform preventative maintenance.
• Run and manage multiple jobs and crews; coach and mentor technicians.
• Represent BAS with the customer during construction projects and communicate status to PM.
• Maintain project schedules and review submittals and BOM for accuracy.
• Provide technical support and documentation; coordinate design changes and programs.
• Maintain forecasting manpower requirements and participate in construction meetings.

Job description

We are a full-service HVAC, building automation, chiller, and retrofit contractor with a reputation for combining high-quality consulting services with customized energy solutions. The Automation Foreman will inspect, test, adjust and repair new or existing electric, electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic automation devices, and systems. It will also diagnose the cause of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and perform preventative and corrective maintenance. Automation Foreman runs and manages multiple jobs and crews will also be responsible for coaching and mentoring other automation technicians.

Customer Relations:

• Representation of BAS with the customer during a construction project.
• Communicate project status and resolve issues with PM.
• Maintaining customer relationships.

Project Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the financial success of all assigned construction projects.
• Reviewing project submittals and bill of materials for accuracy.
• Maintain project schedules.
• Technical support for installers.
• Provide thorough verbal and written documentation.
• Coordinate with Project Managers for design changes, graphics, and programs.
• Maintaining project forecasting manpower requirements.
• Attend construction meetings and represent MPBAS.
• Maintaining company installation standards.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably Electrical or Mechanical) or equivalent field experience.
• 8 + years of direct automation experience with control systems and programming required.
• Working knowledge of at least three HVAC control systems (preferably Delta, Distech, JCI or Andover)
• Ability to interface with customers at a supervisory and management level.
• Engineering skills required include electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and computer programming knowledge.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with control system architecture design, programming, or maintenance desired.
• Good computer skills and understanding of controls networking.
• A valid driver’s license.

Compensation: $61.40 Per Hour. The hourly rate is determined by the CBA/rate sheet and test results. Benefits are provided through local labor union aligned with collective bargaining agreement.
