This position is assigned to Shift 3 (Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and alternating Sundays from 6:45 PM to 7:00 AM), with potential for overtime.

What you’ll do

The Salt Lake City, UT Henkel manufacturing facility is seeking top talent to lead our facility to Best in Class performance levels and culture. We have a clear 3-5 year plan to build capability and deliver results using Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Lean Six Sigma (LSS). The Automation Engineering Technician is responsible for assisting, creating, and updating programs and graphics for new and existing projects. This role collaborates with Engineering, Maintenance, and Production personnel to ensure the accuracy of all PLC functions.

  • Oversee and implement the MOC affecting programming, sensors, and equipment set points.
  • Lead and facilitate root-cause analysis on reactive downtime using programming troubleshooting.
  • Use laptops to troubleshoot machine movement and homing issues when parts are not broken.
  • Support shift activities related to pallet patterns, cameras, clarinets, PLCs, networks, and servers.
  • Collaborate with plant programmers to complete programming work orders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
What makes you a good fit
  • An associate degree in Programming or Automation Controls.
  • Allen Bradley certifications are highly desirable.
  • At least 2 years of experience with Siemens, Allen Bradley, or Ladder Logic Programming.
  • Skills in FactoryTalk are highly desired.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills using programming code.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably high-speed.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Lean principles such as 5S, TPM, and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Proficient to advanced computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Basic to intermediate math skills.
  • Ability to work independently during night shifts and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work under stress.
  • Effective communication skills, adaptable to different audiences, with active listening and clear presentation capabilities.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good time-management and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Physical ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours.

There is a $1,000 SIGN-ON BONUS for this role. The hourly range is $43.00 - $48.00. Wages are set in good faith within this range but may vary based on experience and future modifications.
