Job Details

The Feed Mill Automation Technician is responsible for installing, servicing, and supporting the Micro Technologies Pro Control Batching (PCB) system. This system has the highest liability and urgency to fix, as mis-feeding ingredients can have significant negative consequences for both Micro and the customer.

  • This is a remote position based out of Kansas or Texas, requiring up to 50% travel.
  • Understand and troubleshoot the customized PCB software used for over 250 customer configurations.
  • Perform real-time troubleshooting across hardware, software, and human errors, often under time pressure.
  • Test, configure, and install diverse hardware components at customer sites.
  • Test new or updated software configurations thoroughly before deployment.
  • Train managers, vendors, and feed crew members in PCB usage, including non-English speakers.
  • Consult with managers and partners to develop optimal solutions.
  • Travel to customer sites for diagnostics, hardware replacements, and training.
  • Configure the Micro Weigh System (MWS) to ensure accurate and efficient micro ingredient discharge into feed batches.
  • Regularly update PCB systems and monitor their performance and security.
  • Support interfaces with feed management systems, including our own and partner systems.
  • Understand network concepts and collaborate with IT for setup and troubleshooting.
  • Participate in pre-installation planning and weekly on-call support rotations.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Animal Science, Feedlot Management, Animal Nutrition, Electrical Engineering, or related technical training.
Skills & Knowledge
  • Valid driver’s license with frequent travel within the US.
  • Knowledge of PCs, PLCs, operating systems, databases, and related software.
  • Experience in cattle feeding or agricultural businesses is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills, self-motivated, team-oriented.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) is highly desirable.
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation every 7 weeks.
