Job summary

Novelis Bay Minette is seeking an Automation Engineer Intern to support automation, controls, and digital manufacturing initiatives at our Alabama facility. This hands-on internship offers exposure to PLCs, HMIs, instrumentation and data-driven manufacturing in an advanced aluminum environment, with collaboration across Operations, Maintenance and Engineering.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
Junior, Senior, or recent graduate standing.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills.
Currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer.

Responsibilities

Support automation, controls, and process improvement projects across the Bay Minette facility.
Assist with troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, instrumentation, control systems, and related manufacturing technologies.
Analyze production and process data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, and Engineering teams to support project execution.
Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities.
Document project work and present findings or recommendations to the team.
Promote a strong safety culture and comply with site safety and environmental standards.
