Job summary

gehc is seeking an Automation Engineer to support the X-Ray Tubes facility in West Milwaukee, WI. You will lead automation projects, design and Commission electrical/control systems, and integrate robotics with existing equipment to improve efficiency and quality.

You will own control standards, hardware/software programming (PLC/HMI), FAT/SAT, and collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to deploy cutting-edge automation on current and future production lines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical/Automation related field, or an Associate degree with 6+ years automation experience.
• Minimum 2+ years as hands-on Controls/Applications Engineer in automation and/or electromechanical systems.
• Experience with articulated robots and ownership of production processes to improve yield, quality and capacity.
• Proficient with PLC, robot applications, and electromechanical systems troubleshooting.
• Experience creating technical documents (FMEA, Equipment Risk Assessments) and related processes.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Electric standards.

Responsibilities

• Support manufacturing of internally built equipment with programming, electrical/controls design and documentation.
• Aid in developing manufacturing processes and control solutions to enhance operations.
• Lead engineering projects and provide feasibility support on complex initiatives.
• Design, build, commission and validate machines and fixtures.
• Assist with machine assembly, testing, FAT/SAT, field-testing and commissioning.
• Integrate robotics, vision and automation into new/existing equipment.
• Provide concise project updates to leaders and teams.
• Troubleshoot problems with manufacturing teams and suppliers as needed.
• Drive Lean/Six Sigma initiatives to improve productivity and reduce costs.
