Job summary

Airbnb is seeking an Automation Engineer to join the Quality Engineering team. You will build and maintain automation coverage for features and releases, collaborating with product engineering to develop test tools, write code, and improve testability across systems.

You will learn AI-assisted tooling to accelerate test creation, work in a fast-paced environment with short release cycles, and help scale quality processes for guests, hosts, and support teams globally.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of software development or test automation experience.
• Foundational knowledge in at least one language: JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Kotlin, Swift, or Java.
• Some exposure to automated tests or testing frameworks (Playwright, Cypress, Espresso, XCUITest).
• Understanding of basic testing concepts, testing pyramid, CI/CD, and quality practices.
• Curiosity about applying AI/LLMs to testing and productivity.
• Comfortable collaborating in English.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and use automated tests for features and releases.
• Develop and maintain test tools, write and test product code.
• Participate in design reviews to improve testability and modularity.
• Guide designs and code for better test coverage and accuracy.
• Work across technologies and codebases; resolve issues during testing and after release.
• Collaborate with product, development, and QE teams in a fast-paced cadence.
• Learn and apply AI-assisted tooling to accelerate test creation.
