Job summary

TC Energy Corp. is seeking an Automation Engineer or Technologist to support safe, reliable operation of compressor-station control systems.

The role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving automation and control systems in collaboration with field operations. You will diagnose equipment issues, implement corrective actions, and coordinate changes across PLCs, HMIs, networks, and data-acquisition systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical program.
• Six+ years of related experience in automation and control systems.
• Experience maintaining and troubleshooting electrical, instrumentation, automation systems.
• Working knowledge of PLC and HMI platforms.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings, control narratives, diagrams, and manuals.
• Strong analytical and root-cause troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication with operations, engineering, vendors, and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to field operations for automation and control systems.
• Diagnose malfunctions, identify root causes, implement corrective actions.
• Troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, networks, and data acquisition systems.
• Support inspection, testing, calibration, repair, and lifecycle management.
• Review PLC/HMI applications and alarms to improve reliability.
• Coordinate software and change-management for control-logic changes.
• Monitor system performance and identify reliability risks.
• Provide guidance for operating and maintaining compressor-station controls.
• Support capital projects through design review, commissioning, testing, validation.
• Review designs & construction plans for maintainability and standards.
• Perform engineering studies and audits per regulatory requirements.
• Share lessons learned and best practices across organization.
• Coordinate vendor support and training.
