Job summary

DigitalOcean is hiring early-career Software Engineers for the Physical Infrastructure Engineering team to automate manual, repetitive operational work. You will build internal tools and automation to help the organization scale faster, with a focus on leveraging AI-assisted development tools.

You will write automation primarily in Go and Python, partner with infrastructure teams, and ship end-to-end automation that improves hardware and capacity visibility across DigitalOcean's global

Qualifications

• Exposure to Python or Go through coursework, internships, personal projects, or early professional experience (0–2 years).
• Comfort using Linux (Ubuntu LTS) or eagerness to learn quickly.
• Familiarity with shell scripting and Git.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Passion for building quickly, eliminating manual work, and collaborating openly.

Responsibilities

• Write automation primarily in Golang and Python, using AI tools like Cursor and Claude as your primary development approach.
• Partner with technical program managers and infrastructure teams to identify manual and repetitive processes and transform them into reliable automation.
• Work end-to-end on automation projects: from identifying toil, building solutions, to shipping reliable systems that teams depend on.
• Contribute to tooling that provides hardware and capacity visibility across DigitalOcean's global infrastructure.
• Collaborate across infrastructure teams to find manual processes and drive them toward automation.
