Position Description

Designs, modifies, develops, writes, and implements software for generator control switchgear applications. Works independently using instructions and guidelines, with supervision or verification at completion.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify retrofit opportunities, scope projects, and support proposal creation with Dealer and Factory teams
  • Perform technical risk management for field performance of projects
  • Convert legacy PLC projects to new platforms and validate accuracy
  • Design, test, manufacture, and commission low and medium voltage switchgear controls for systems controlling multiple generators
  • Guide CAD designers in creating wiring and assembly drawings
  • Modify PLC and HMI programs for projects
  • Support the AES Sales Group with technical expertise
  • Submit project reports and expenses timely
  • Assist the Product Support Center in resolving customer issues
  • Train technicians and customers in maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Experience working with contractors, consultants, engineers, and end users
  • Knowledge of installation, troubleshooting, and design of switchgear, ATS, and generator systems
  • Ability to read schematics and blueprints
  • Experience with programmable control systems (PLC, HMI, PC controls)
  • Computer troubleshooting skills
  • PLC software experience with Modicon/Schneider Electric, Rockwell/Allen Bradley, Siemens, GE
  • HMI software experience (a plus): Rockwell RSView/FactoryTalk, Siemens, Vijeo, iFix, Wonderware
  • Willingness to travel 35-50%
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record

Education and Work Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology with minimum 2 years of experience, or equivalent work experience.

Salary Range

$36.85 - $55.25 per hour, with compensation depending on experience and other factors.
