Job summary

LGC Biosearch Technologies is seeking an Automation Engineer for a 12-month contract at the Petaluma site. The role focuses on designing, configuring, testing, and sustaining automation solutions for formulation, DNA synthesis, and production data systems.

Responsibilities include developing liquid handling workflows with Dynamic Devices and Tecan, scripting in C# and Python, and integrating MES/LIMS for traceability and batch status visibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in automation engineering or related technical discipline with 1+ year automation experience; or associate degree with 3+ years automation experience.
• Proficient in C# and Python for instrument control and workflow automation.
• Hands-on experience with liquid handlers and laboratory automation workflows.
• Experience with liquid handling systems and sample/batch tracking in manufacturing environments.
• Experience configuring automated workflows and data capture for GMP/ISO-compliant settings.

Responsibilities

• Develop and verify automated liquid handling workflows on production equipment and software integrations.
• Write and modify automation scripts in C#, Python, or instrument languages.
• Support DNA synthesis automation and workflow integration, including data flow and labeling.
• Configure MES/LIMS workflows for traceability and batch status visibility.
• Design and test scheduling and batching automation to improve throughput and data integrity.
• Prepare validation documents, risk assessments, and change control deliverables.
