Job summary

LGC Biosearch Technologies is seeking an Automation Engineer for a 12-month contract at the Petaluma site. You will design, configure, test, and sustain automation solutions for formulation, DNA synthesis, and manufacturing workflows, interfacing with MES/LIMS, OT, IT, and vendors.

The role combines hands-on equipment work with software development, data integrity, and scalable manufacturing enablement to improve productivity and process reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or technical equivalent with automation experience.
• Proficiency in C# and Python for instrument control and data processing.
• Hands-on experience with liquid handling systems and workflow integration.
• Experience configuring MES/LIMS and data capture in manufacturing.
• Ability to document automation configurations and test results clearly.
• Strong communication across multiple teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop, configure, test, and verify automated liquid handling workflows.
• Create, modify, test, and document automation scripts in C# and Python.
• Support DNA synthesis automation and sample/batch tracking.
• Configure MES and LIMS workflows for traceability and batch status.
• Design and improve scheduling and batching automation; reduce manual steps.
• Conduct dry/wet runs, simulations, and acceptance testing with teams.
• Produce work instructions, risk assessments, and validation deliverables.
• Identify bottlenecks and risks; communicate to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with vendors to resolve automation issues for operability.
