Job summary

SpaceX is seeking an Automation Engineer for the Blades and Vanes Foundry in Wisconsin to design, develop, and maintain control systems for investment casting and manufacturing processes. You will integrate PLC/SCADA with MES, create scalable data solutions, and drive real-time process optimization across production lines.

The role emphasizes first principles thinking, hands-on problem solving, and building robust, reusable code while ensuring safety and reliability in a high-impact environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering, physics, or computer science discipline.
• 1+ years of experience in automation and control systems for industrial applications.
• Strong knowledge of process automation, control networks, and data analytics.

Responsibilities

• Integrate electromechanical systems with investment casting equipment.
• Design data systems to analyze KPI trends and reliability.
• Implement data collection/storage using Python/SQL interfacing with MES.
• Create and optimize HMI/SCADA/MES interfaces and predictive analytics.
• Lay out electrical control panels compliant with NFPA79/NEC/UL508A.
• Architect and debug PLC code with maintainable structure.
• Ensure safety systems meet ANSI/RIA15.06/OSHA standards.
• Size electrical/electromechanical components such as servo motors.
• Manage electrical cabinet builds and field wiring.
