Job summary

A leading global technology company in Brooklyn Heights is seeking a Renewable Energy Automation Engineer to design and develop control systems for battery energy storage. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of energy storage systems and at least 7 years of experience in automation design for renewable energy projects. This role entails designing EMS components and supporting operational troubleshooting. The position requires potential domestic and international travel of about 20%.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of experience in automation design for renewable energy projects.
• Experience with utility scale EPC projects required.
• Proven ability to develop and implement EMS components.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop control systems for battery energy storage systems.
• Architect and implement EMS components including SCADA systems.
• Support installation, commissioning, and operational troubleshooting.

Skills

Strong understanding of energy storage systems

Proficiency in IEC 61131-3 programming

Experience with SCADA system design

Skilled in simulation tools like MATLAB/Simulink

Knowledge of industrial communication protocols

Experience with VMware and Windows Server

Familiarity with cybersecurity standards

Proficient in HIL/SIL testing

Ability to interpret technical drawings

Comfortable with tools such as Python and Linux

Education

BSEE or MSEE preferred

PE License preferred
