Job summary

Wabtec Corporation in Raleigh, NC, is seeking an Automation & Advanced Manufacturing engineer to deliver automation solutions across machining, fabrication, assembly, and material handling. You will apply robotics and controls expertise to design concepts, simulate layouts, and support capital project execution across global sites.

The role emphasizes hands-on engineering combined with project delivery, collaborating with manufacturing, quality, maintenance, IT/OT, and external suppliers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related engineering discipline.
• 3+ years in industrial automation, manufacturing engineering, robotics, or related fields.
• Hands-on experience with industrial robots and automation equipment in production.
• Ability to design automation concepts, layouts, tooling, and interfaces.
• Experience with robot or manufacturing simulation and offline programming.

Responsibilities

• Support automation projects from concept through production launch.
• Evaluate processes and identify practical automation opportunities.
• Develop concepts, layouts, simulations, cycle-time estimates, and specs.
• Run robot reach and payload simulations to reduce project risk.
• Support capital estimates, ROI, equipment scopes, and documentation.
• Participate in vendor selection, RFQs, design reviews, FAT/SAT, and startup.
• Collaborate with controls, manufacturing, quality, maintenance, EHS, suppliers, and integrators to resolve issues.
• Troubleshoot and optimize existing robotic manufacturing systems.
