Job summary

Triad Technologies, LLC is seeking an Automation Engineer to provide technical and application support for our automation and motion control products. You will work with the Engineering team, Sales, Operations, suppliers, and customers to understand requirements and devise effective technical solutions.

The role covers product selection, system design, programming, troubleshooting, commissioning, documentation, and training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering required for Automation Engineer role.
• Experience with industrial automation, controls, robotics or system integration.
• Familiarity with PLCs, motion controllers, HMIs and industrial networks.
• Experience with PLC or motion controller programming and troubleshooting preferred.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, circuit diagrams and mechanical drawings.
• Experience with Microsoft Office; SolidWorks/AutoCAD experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and application support for automation and motion control products, systems, and solutions.
• Work with Engineering, Sales, and customers to understand application requirements and recommend appropriate products and system solutions.
• Assist with application planning, system architecture, product selection, hardware and software specifications, and network layouts.
• Support the development of technical solutions and quotations based on customer requirements and industry standards.
• Provide programming, configuration, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting support for PLCs, motion controllers, HMIs, and industrial networks.
• Assist with the design, implementation, and improvement of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, vacuum, and controls systems used in industrial automation applications.
• Provide technical support to Sales, Assembly, Field Service Technicians, and other internal teams throughout the design, installation, commissioning, and service process.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including electrical schematics, circuit diagrams, mechanical layouts, and system documentation.
• Utilize SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and other engineering software as required.
• Perform engineering calculations, component sizing, and application analysis to support system and equipment specifications.
• Assist with customer and internal training related to automation, motion control, programming, and software.
• Support installation, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting activities as needed.
• Maintain current knowledge of automation, motion control, controls, networking, and related technologies.

Job description

The Automation Engineer provides technical and application support for Triad Technologies' automation and motion control products and solutions. This position works closely with the Engineering team, Sales, Operations, suppliers, and customers to understand application requirements and develop effective technical solutions.

The Automation Engineer supports product selection, system design, programming, troubleshooting, commissioning, documentation, and training. While the role includes customer interaction and occasional field support, the primary focus is providing technical expertise and engineering support as part of Triad's Engineering team. This is a full-time, Monday-Friday position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering required for the Automation Engineer title. Candidates with an associate degree or two-year technical degree in automation, electrical engineering technology, mechanical engineering technology, controls, or a related field may be considered for an Automation Specialist title.
• Candidates with relevant technical education, internship, co-op, or hands-on industry experience will be considered. Relevant experience may include industrial automation, controls, motion control, electrical systems, robotics, machine design, or system integration.
• Working knowledge of automation and motion control products, systems, and applications.
• Familiarity with PLCs, motion controllers, HMIs, industrial networks, and related automation technologies.
• Experience with PLC or motion controller programming and troubleshooting is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, circuit diagrams, mechanical drawings, and technical documentation.
• Experience with Microsoft Office required. Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar engineering software is preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to learn and support multiple motion control and programming platforms.
• Ability to work effectively with customers, coworkers, suppliers, and business partners.
• Ability and willingness to provide technical support outside of normal business hours when needed.
• Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
• Must be willing and able to travel to customer locations, including occasional overnight travel, as needed.
