Job summary

Ladders is seeking an Automation Engineer to join a leader in the Information Technology space. This remote role focuses on identifying, designing, and implementing automation that reduces manual operational work and improves reliability across infrastructure processes.

The position partners with operations teams to uncover repeatable tasks, translate them into scalable solutions, and strengthen DevOps practices.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree or equivalent with 6–8 years in automation/DevOps.
• Hands-on experience with Ansible, Terraform, GitLab CI/CD, and HashiCorp Vault in production environments.
• Experience analyzing ticket and incident data to identify automation opportunities.
• Comfortable gathering requirements through interviews and process walkthroughs.
• Working knowledge of Windows and Linux systems administration, storage, and backup operations.
• Solid scripting ability in Bash, Python, PowerShell, or similar.
• Understanding of DevSecOps principles and software supply chain security.

Responsibilities

• Partner with operational teams to understand recurring work through interviews and shadowing.
• Analyze ticket and incident data to identify manual tasks and quantify their frequency.
• Prioritize automation opportunities based on ticket volume, risk, and operational impact.
• Codify best practices and common tasks into reusable Ansible playbooks and roles.
• Design and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform for provisioning and configuration.
• Build and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines for automation deployment.
• Manage secrets and credentials used by automation workflows through HashiCorp Vault.
• Utilize JFrog Artifactory to manage and secure artifacts produced by automation pipelines.
• Validate new automation against existing manual procedures before retiring them.
• Track and report on automation coverage and reduction in manual ticket volume.

For our client, we are seeking a Automation Engineer to join the team of a leader in the Information Technology space.

This remote role will focus on identifying, designing, and implementing automation that reduces manual operational work and improves reliability across infrastructure processes. The position partners closely with operations teams to uncover repeatable tasks, translate them into scalable solutions, and strengthen DevOps practices. The engineer will also help standardize deployment, secrets management, and infrastructure provisioning while measuring the impact of automation on day-to-day operations.

Location: Remote

Compensation: $110,000 – $130,000 annually
