Job summary

Akkar in Kentucky is seeking an Automation Engineer to design, implement, and optimise automation systems for automotive manufacturing. You will contribute to best-in-class product delivery, production efficiency, and reduced time to market.

Responsibilities include designing automation solutions, programming PLC/SCADA, and leading projects from concept to validation while ensuring safety compliance and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field).
  • 3-5+ years of experience in automation or controls engineering.
  • Proficient in PLC programming and control system design.
  • Hands-on experience with robotics, SCADA, HMI, and vision systems.
  • Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks).

  • Ensure compliance with safety and industry standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma principles.
  • Stay current with emerging automation technologies to enhance efficiency and reliability.

Job description

You will be working with a manufacturing company within the Automotive industry in Kentucky. They are one of the world's leading automotive suppliers.

You will be joining them as an Automation Engineer to design, implement and optimise the automation systems. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring best-in-class product delivery, production efficiency and reducing product time to market.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop automation solutions, including robotics, conveyors, and control systems.
  • Program and integrate PLC, SCADA, and vision systems for manufacturing processes.
  • Create system layouts, schematics, and process documentation.
  • Integrate automation with existing production equipment and data systems.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and improve the performance of automated machinery.
  • Support cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Lead automation projects from concept through installation and validation.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and industry standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma principles.
  • Stay current with emerging automation technologies to enhance efficiency and reliability.
