Job summary

Flex-N-Gate is a leading automotive components manufacturer. The Automation Engineer will design, edit, maintain and troubleshoot automated actuators, PLCs and motion-controlled programs on production equipment.

The role requires hands-on technical leadership to improve processes and ensure safety and quality across manufacturing lines. Candidates should have 3–5 years in manufacturing tech, strong PLC and HMI skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects while working with

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred but experience in lieu of degree considered.
• 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing technology.
• Competency with Allen Bradley PLC programming hardware & software.
• Competency with Allen Bradley Operator Interface hardware & software (PanelView).
• Ability to specify, install, debug and start-up electrical control systems.
• PLC programming skills to ensure machine function and safety.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access and Project.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Strong analytical, decision making and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Instruct and train team process engineers and die setters in real-time trouble shooting techniques, including basic electrical, mechanical and pneumatic functions of robots and connections.
• Develop, organize and improve spare parts inventories.
• Participate in advanced product quality planning for development of control plans.
• Provide technical floor support daily to meet production efficiency goals.
• Initiate and participate in continuous improvement, including cycle time reductions and root cause analysis.
• Investigate mechanical failures or maintenance problems.
• Integrate robotics with peripherals such as welders, controllers, or other equipment.

Summary

The Automation Engineer develops, edits, maintains, and troubleshoots automated actuators, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and motion-controlled programs on manufacturing equipment and machinery.

Job Duties

• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access and Project.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
