Job summary

Flex-N-Gate Detroit is seeking a Maintenance Automation Technician to support and initiate automation programs across the facility. You will implement and maintain automation projects and equipment, coordinating with maintenance and plant teams.

The role requires an engineering degree or equivalent, 2–4 years in automotive/manufacturing, and strong communication, multitasking, and problem-solving skills. On-site position with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

  • University degree or college diploma in mechanical/electrical engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 2-4 years’ related experience in automotive/manufacturing industry.
  • Ability to communicate detailed instructions orally and in writing; multi-tasking and prioritization.

Responsibilities

  • Contacts suppliers for quotations of equipment and reviews output quantity, quality, process reliability and downtime of equipment.
  • Implements new equipment in plant and coordinates activities with maintenance.
  • Organizes and maintains project schedules by communicating with plant personnel and supplier timing.
  • Develops project objectives by conferring with management regarding design, setup and maintenance.
  • Determines project specifications by preparing cost estimates.
  • Develops and implements training programs for new equipment and automation cells.
  • Identifies sources for required equipment and sets evaluation criteria with cross-functional input.
  • Confirms product performance via capability tests/trials on prototypes and time studies.
  • Conducts continuous improvement studies through automation design, cost-benefit analysis and maintenance.
  • Ensure procurement of equipment matching needs and savings; bring all equipment up to mechanical and electrical standards.

Job Duties

Requirements

  • University Degree/College Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 2-4 years’ related experience in an automotive/manufacturing industry.
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate detailed instructions orally and in writing
  • Ability to multi-task and establish priorities

  • Must be a highly motivated, service and team-oriented individual with an attention to detail.
