Job summary

Southern Recruiting Solutions, Inc. seeks an Automation Engineer in the Atlanta area to design and specify control systems for industrial processes.

The role emphasizes selecting pressure, temperature, level and flow meters and other instruments for robust process control. You will specify discrete, analog, and networked solutions, review supplier designs for NEC compliance and safety, and assist in commissioning and start-up across facilities in the region.

Qualifications

• Requires AS or BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Automation Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years' experience (7–10 ideal) in a similar role.
• Knowledge of NEC Article 500.
• Experience with Functional Safety (IEC 61508/61511) and SIL levels.
• 5+ years PLC programming in a process environment using Rockwell, Siemens, and/or Codesys.
• Experience configuring communications with Modbus, Profinet/Profibus, and Foundation Fieldbus.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

• The Automation Engineer will have extensive knowledge and experience with the selection of Pressure, Temperature, Level and Flow Meters and other instruments used in Process Control.
• Specify both discrete, analog, and networked control solutions.
• Extensive knowledge and experience specifying of above devices passed on NEC hazardous area classification and known process temperatures. i.e. High temperature components.
• Prepare specifications, design-bid documentation. Review supplier designs against licensor requirements, code requirements, and customer requirements.
• Assist with the design and modification of new and existing process control and instrumentation systems.
• Assist in the development of instrumentation standards to ensure selection compliance across multiple facilities.
• Make recommendations for additional equipment as necessary.
• Assist with loop checking, documentation checking, plant commissioning and start-up.
• Regional candidates in the Atlanta preferred. $120K-$150K.

Requirements

• The Automation Engineer will have an AS or BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or Automation Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience (7-10 ideal) in a similar role.
• Ideally completed process and plant engineering training in a previous role:
• In-depth knowledge/experience of National Electric Code with emphasis on Article 500.
• Demonstrate knowledge of Functional Safety (IEC 61508/61511 & SIL levels).
• 5 plus years’ PLC programming and configuration experience, in a process environment, using automation products from Rockwell, Siemens, and/or Codesys.
• Experience in configuring and testing communications using gateway devices that allow data exchange with multiple industrial protocols including Modbus, Profinet / Profibus, Foundation Fieldbus.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
