Movement Search & Delivery is actively seeking a hands-on Controls Engineer to join our on-site team in Arlington, TX. The role focuses on troubleshooting, maintaining, and advancing automated assembly systems, industrial controls, and robotics to maximize productivity, uptime, and OEE.

You will partner with production, maintenance, and engineering to identify root causes, implement robust solutions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, IT, or a related technical field.
  • 2+ years of experience working with controls, automation, robotics, or related manufacturing equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Program, troubleshoot, maintain, and improve automated equipment and controls systems.
  • Review shift and PLC logs; input data and monitor OEE metrics.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to identify root causes and implement solutions.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects focused on equipment performance and reliability.

Job description

***Work Authorization: Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship. U.S. Citizens and Green Card holders are preferred. TN visa holders may be considered. The client is unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.***

Work Arrangement: On-site

Schedule: Rotating schedule — 3 months on days / 3 months on nights

Shift: 3 × 12-hour shifts one week, followed by 4 × 12-hour shifts the next week

Overtime: Limited to no regular overtime

Travel: Minimal

JOB SUMMARY

Our confidential client is seeking a Controls Engineer with experience in automated assembly systems, industrial controls, and robotics. This individual will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, developing, and improving automation and controls systems to increase productivity, efficiency, equipment uptime, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).

The ideal candidate will be hands-on, technically strong, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role will work closely with production, engineering, maintenance, and other cross-functional teams to identify root causes, implement solutions, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain required checklists and documentation.
  • Review and input data into PLC logs.
  • Review shift reports and identify issues or opportunities requiring attention.
  • Participate in and prepare for management meetings.
  • Program, troubleshoot, maintain, and improve automated equipment and controls systems.
  • Collaborate with other facilities and cross-functional departments.
  • Utilize team member feedback to identify and resolve equipment and process issues.
  • Troubleshoot critical equipment and controls issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Maintain and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Monitor and improve HMI performance.
  • Evaluate new manufacturing, automation, controls, and robotics technologies.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and troubleshooting techniques to identify root causes.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects focused on equipment performance, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Perform periodic equipment audits to improve uptime and identify potential issues before failures occur.
  • Identify and implement error-proofing opportunities throughout the production process.
  • Support incident reporting, documentation, and required reports.
  • Participate in SOT walks and follow all established health and safety procedures.
  • Maintain a proactive and preventative approach to safety.
  • Stay current with developments in controls, automation, and robotics technology.
  • Complete required training and maintain compliance with company requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, IT, or a related technical field.
  • 2+ years of industry experience working with controls, automation, robotics, or related manufacturing equipment.

  • Ability to read electrical and engineering drawings
  • Advanced knowledge of electronic devices and industrial controls
  • Robotics programming and troubleshooting, preferably Fanuc
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols
  • Advanced computer and controls troubleshooting skills
SCHEDULE

This position follows a rotating schedule:

  • 3 months on day shift
  • 3 months on night shift
  • Following week: 4 × 12-hour shifts
  • Limited to no regular overtime
