Job summary

AST SpaceMobile is building the first global cellular broadband network in space, enabling standard mobile devices to access it. We seek an Automation Developer to design, develop, and maintain automation frameworks, data pipelines, and test tools supporting satellite, gateway, and LTE analytics.

Lead the effort in building end-to-end test suites, dashboards, and ML-assisted automation, collaborating with R&D and Operations to boost robustness and operational readiness.

Qualifications

• B.Sc. in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• At least 4 years of hands-on automation development experience.
• Experience in telecommunications, satellite, or network systems.
• Proficient in Python and REST APIs.
• Experience with CI tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI and Git.
• Familiar with RF equipment and lab automation.
• Experience integrating AI agents into automation workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop automated test frameworks, scripts, APIs, dashboards, and tools using Python.
• Develop end-to-end and HIL test suites for satellite, gateway, RF, payload and embedded systems.
• Build automation with GUI, cloud-triggered jobs, drivers, storage, and reports.
• Automate RF/system validation with lab equipment.
• Develop analytics and monitoring workflows for gateway/satellite platforms.
• Create AI-agent tooling and MCP-based tools for agent-callable automation.
• Analyze results, debug failures, and collaborate with teams to resolve issues.
• Present findings via dashboards and clear visual outputs for engineers and stakeholders.
• Maintain detailed automation documentation and test plans.
