Job summary

GSK’s Zebulon site in North America is seeking a hands‑on Controls/Instrumentation Engineer to design, maintain and improve control systems for manufacturing equipment. You’ll partner with production, maintenance, automation and engineering teams to ensure safety, quality and continuous improvement on the floor.

The role emphasizes real‑world problem solving, documentation, and mentoring. This is a 2nd shift, on‑site position with strong growth in modern manufacturing tech.

Qualifications

• Associate degree, technical certificate, or equivalent experience in controls, instrumentation, electrical or related field.
• 3+ years hands‑on experience with industrial control systems, including PLC programming.
• Experience with instrumentation, sensors, actuators and control loop tuning.
• Experience supporting commissioning, start‑up or validation activities in a regulated environment.
• Experience using maintenance or enterprise systems (for example SAP) to document work and parts.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily on the floor production support to value stream areas experiencing engineering/automation or instrumentation and controls equipment issues or failure.
• Work with maintenance, engineering and production staff in developing and implementing equipment improvements, primarily in OEE, reliability engineering, safety, or process/quality improvements.
• Collaborate on continuous improvement projects evaluating corrective, preventative and predictive maintenance strategies.
• Develop technical documentation including e-pips, Change Control Request, technical specifications and training materials.
• Provide mentoring and support to maintenance staff as required.
• Support capability development of engineering techs through skills assessments and training sessions.
