Job summary

RoyOMartin is seeking a Controls Technician to install, troubleshoot, and maintain PLCs, HMIs, cameras, and control systems, ensuring safe and efficient operation across the plant. The role emphasizes preventive maintenance, upgrades, and collaboration with electricians and engineers.

The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in electrical circuits, wiring, and panel building, with PLC/HMI proficiency and a safety-first mindset.

Qualifications

• Willingness to learn and grow in a hands-on automation role.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associates degree or 2+ years related experience in electrical/automation.
• Strong knowledge of electrical circuits and components.
• Familiarity with wiring, panel building and schematics.
• Proficiency with PLCs and HMIs.
• Experience with automation systems, robotics, and control loops.
• Ability to diagnose electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and controls issues.
• Excellent safety and attendance record.
• Strong planning and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of lockout procedures and SDS usage.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and optimize automation and control systems (PLCs, HMIs, cameras) through troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain PLCs, HMIs, and control systems.
• Program and modify automation systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance on automation and control equipment.
• Support system upgrades and process improvements.
• Collaborate with electricians and engineers to resolve issues.
• Document work and ensure safety compliance.
• Train electricians in control systems and troubleshooting.
• Maintain and troubleshoot camera systems to ensure functionality.
• Provide support to electrical and maintenance teams as needed.
