Job summary

First Quality is seeking an enthusiastic Electro-Mechanical/Automation Engineering student for an internship focused on specifying, designing, and implementing complex control systems and software on production equipment.

Work will involve PLC and HMI programming, circuit drawings, data collection, and collaboration with process engineers and maintenance teams to improve machine performance in a high-speed manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in related engineering degrees as listed.
• PC skills including controls programming software, email, word processing and spreadsheets.
• Strong communication with process engineers and maintenance staff.
• Strong analytical skills to identify machine problems and causes.
• Programming experience with one or more languages.
• Creativity to identify multiple solutions and improve machine controls.
• Ability to work well with others at all experience levels.

Responsibilities

• Observes safety rules and assists in designing, installing and starting up new equipment and process controls.
• Modify PLC logic, HMI programs, and servo controller logic to improve performance.
• Diagnose problems using equipment and test tools and maintain data historian system.
• Coordinate machine data collection and plant network integration.
• Identify opportunities to increase production performance and oversee related projects.
• Organize equipment documentation and share techniques with the team.
