Job summary
ENGEL Machinery North America is seeking a Controls Engineer to program new robots and automation equipment, modify software for industrial robots, and troubleshoot existing products. You will design HMIs, develop communication protocols, and support cross-functional teams to meet customer specifications.
Qualified candidates have a Bachelor’s in software engineering with 3–5 years in robotics/automation, strong electrical schematic skills, and proficiency in C++, Java, SAP, and CAD tools like
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in software engineering is required or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum of 3–5 years related experience (preferred in Robotic and/or Automation).
- Strong knowledge of electrical schematics and ability to read technical drawings.
- Proficient in ladder logic, structured text and programming for industrial robots.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for programming of new robots and automation equipment.
- Modify software for industrial robots and custom automation equipment.
- Troubleshoot and debug existing products.
- Design HMI and visualization for production cells.
- Programming of communication protocols (EtherCAT, Ethernet, I/O Link, OPC UA, Profibus, Device Net, etc.).
- Provide technical support to project engineering and service teams.
