Job summary

Altec is seeking a Controls Engineer/Technologist in Orlando, FL to design, program, test, and commission automated control systems for wood products, entertainment, and industrial clients. You will work with engineers, technicians, and customers to deliver reliable automation solutions from concept to startup.

The role involves PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff), electrical design with AutoCAD/EPLAN, site commissioning, and mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics or related field.
Minimum 3 years in design, programming and commissioning of discrete and/or motion control systems.
Proficiency in PLC programming platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff and Siemens.

Responsibilities

Lead control system design from concept to completion per customer specs.
Program and debug PLC logic across Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff systems.
Design and program HMI interfaces for client needs.
Oversee site commissioning and ensure seamless integration at customer sites.
Draft functional specifications and document procedures.
Collaborate with managers, mechanical engineers, technicians, and customers.
