Job summary
Detroit Salt Company is seeking a highly skilled Industrial Automation Engineer to join our Maintenance team in Detroit. You will design, modify, and develop facilities, testing, machines, and processes used in mining and processing through applying engineering principles.
You will lead automation projects, maintain HMIs, integrate components into centralized control systems, and collaborate with operations to ensure reliable and safe operations; strong PLC/SCADA expertise and problem-solving
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
- Minimum five years of experience in industrial controls and automation.
- Proficiency with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix PLCs, PowerFlex drives, and HMI platforms.
- Experience with SCADA systems, networking, and Windows/VMware infrastructure.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours based on project needs.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement automated control systems.
- Lead automation projects as project manager with external vendors.
- Maintain and improve HMIs for operation and monitoring.
- Maintain a Factory Information System for real-time data access.
- Support integration of components into centralized control systems.
- Collaborate with operations and maintenance for reliability and safety.
- Troubleshoot and optimize PLCs, drives, instrumentation, and networks.
- Maintain documentation and ensure safety, environmental, and quality standards.
